Forces Q and A
Now is a Science lesson on forces. Let's see a person asking a scientist what forces are.
Q: What is a force?
A: A force is a push or a pull.
Q: What forces there are?
A: Elastic spring force, magnetic force, frictional force and gravitational force.
Q: What is Elastic spring force?
A: It occurs when an object is stretched or compressed.
Q: Magnetic energy?
A: It occurs when 2 magnets connect to each other. If a N and N or a S and a S are facing each other, this causes replusion. If it is a S and a N or a N or a S, it causes attraction.
Q: Gravitaional force?
A: When things are on earth, they have weight. They are caused by Earth's gravity. So they have gravitational force. Gravitaional force attracts between the objects that have mass. ( People who are reading this. If you want to learn more about energy, go to November 2006. You will find out a topic called Energy Q and A. There, you can find gravitational potential energy.)
Q: Frictional force?
A: Opposite of friction is motion. It is useful and a bully to us at the same time.
USEFUL
Helps us hold things
Helps us to walk steadily
Reduces chance for vehicles to slip and slide
Easier for vehicles to brake, that means slow down and stop moving
Help to keep us warm
BULLY
Causes shoes to wear out
Machines produces unwanted heat
We need more effort to push things across the floor.
It causes things to slow down or stop moving when moving
