War: World war 2 (1939-1945)

Before World war 2

In 1933- Hitler became chancellor of Germany

At the beginning of the war

On September 1st, 1939, Germany invaded Poland( More imfo: At 4:45 in the morning, german troops entered Poland. But then, the germans suddenly attacked. This was called the Blitzkrieg. This attack was so quick that the Polish's air force was destroyed very quickly. Not only that, the Polish's calvery had no match with the German tanks).

2 days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany(this was because Germany invaded Poland, and Britain and France agreed to help Poland if it was attacked).

World war 2 had begun.

Phony War

The Poland had surrendered earlier... It started on 1940. German U-boats against the Allied shipping. At first, the german sank the british's carrier HMS Courageous. Later, another U-boat managed to sink another ship, battleship HMS Royal Oak. The good thing was that the U-boats was in sinking transatlantic merchant shipping. Because of that, the germans got no chance winning the battle at sea after 1943. The Allies produced ships faster than they were sunk, and lost fewer ships by adopting the convoy system. Improved anti-submarine warfare meant that the life expectancy of a typical U-boat crew would be measured in months. The vastly improved Type 21 U-boat appeared as the war was ending, but too late. On May 10, 1940, the Germans invaded Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France, ending the Phony War.

Battle of Britain

Hitler (german leader) prepared to invade Britain but they had to destroy the British Royal Air force first. Hitler, angered by retaliatory UK bombing raids on Berlin, switched his attentions towards the bombing of London, in an operation known as The Blitz. The British fought back by bombing the german cities such as Dresdan, killing over 35000 people in one night. The British Royal Navy remained control of the English Channel, so the invasion plans were cancelled eventually.

Japan and US entered the WAR!!!

Jspan invaded France on September 22 1940 and beaten France eventually. The war became global on 1941. The United Kingdom was out of money. On DEcamber 7, the US, the UK and the Netherlands began to fight against Japan on air and sea. A japanese carrier fleet attacked the Pearl Harbor, hawaii. They defeated and sank the American battleships. Later, the US decalred war on Japan the following day. China also declared war on Japan on the same day when the Japanese invaded Malaya. Unfortunately, the british lost 2 major battleships. They were the HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse. They were bombed by the 85 japanese bombers and torpedo planes based in Saigon. Also, 840 UK sailors were perished. ( Hitler signed an agreement with Japan ) Three days later, Germany declared war on the US.

The japanese bullies

Later, Japan invaded the HK. The Philippines and the British colonies of Malaya, Borneo, and Burma stepped in to help and fought fiercely but was eventually capitulated by Japan. Singapore was also capitulated.

Terror: 1942

Feb 15 1942: Singapore surrenders

On may, Japan invaded Port Moresby, New Guinea. The Allied navies fought the Japanese at sea. It was called the Battle of the Coral Sea. The US managed to make the first successful opposition to a Japanese attack and the first battle fought between aircraft carriers. However, the US lost one aircraft, which was USS Lexington. This led Japan to a tactical victory.

Another battle occurred a month later. This time, the US were successful. They destroyed Japan's 4 best aircrafts. This was the Battle of Midway and was a major victory for the US.

Again another battle between the Australians and the Japanese between July and the mid September. During that battle, the poor Australians successfully defeated the huge Japanese force. The Australian forces fought the Japanese thrusts towards the towards Port Moresby, the Battle of Milne Bay and the Kokoda Track.

Again and again and again, the japanese attacked China. The japanese used 12000 soldiers under 4 divisions. But ths Chinese responded back with 300000 men, forcing the japanese to retreat.

1943. Another year of war- less terror (maybe)

Another battle- Germany VS the red army. German forces take advantage of the over extended and weakened the Red Army's conditions. Germany later launched an attack on Kharkov and surrounding areas. This was the last Great strategic victory for the Germans of World War 2.

September 3 1943- Ltaly surrendered to the Allies.

Another Japanese war- The Japanese never gave up on invading China. One time they threw over 100000 men to attack the city but was still held by the Chinese (the japanese may be dumer slowly towards the end).

The japanese had captured most parts of Asia.

End of war- peace to the earth- 1945

The allies and the russians advanced to Berlin and reached there on April. Hitler and his staff moved into the Führerbunker, where he and his bride Eva Braun commited suicide. Hitler's will was to let Admiral Karl Dönitz take over. He became the goverment of Germany but very quickly on May 8, Germany surrenders. So that day would be the V-E day, Victory of Europe.

Although Europe was at peace, fighting continued at the Pacific. They dropped 2 atomic bombs at 2 Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The 2 atomic bombs were little boy and fat man. Japan surrenders.
